Flood Relief 2016

Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship, Trade & Investment Association makes substantial payments   to the Flood affected people to rebuild their lives.
 
The Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Trade & Investment Association (SLPFT&IA) donated substantial and meaningful aid to the families  affected by floods under the patronage of H.E. Maj Gen (R) Syed Shakeel Hussain, High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka at the premises of the Pakistan High Commission on Friday, 10th.
 
The  President of the Association, Mr. Ifthikhar Aziz, the Deputy High Commissioner Dr. Sarfraz Sipra, diplomats of the High Commission and the Executive Committee members of the Association were present.
 
The President of the Association Mr. Ifthikhar Aziz in his address to the beneficiaries expressed his sorrow about the problems they had to undergo due to the recent floods, and stated that the Association took a policy decision not to donate food stuff and other necessities as there was a glut of such donations and to engage in a planned rehabilitation program after a proper assessment of the livelihood needs of those affected in order to rebuild their lives.
 
He further said "So, today we are here to help you rebuild your livelihoods and vocations in a meaningful manner with fairly substantial contributions from our Flood Relief Fund which was initiated by the Association"
 
He further stated the Association trusts that this donation will help them to overcome their immediate problems of getting back to their original situations that prevailed prior to the floods.
 
Mr. Aziz also thanked the Association Members, High Commissioner Shakeel Hussain and the High Commission, our Benefactors, Well wishers and other friends for their generous contributions and assistance towards this worthy cause in this hour of need and also the Executive Committee members for giving him their wholehearted support to make this effort a success today.
 
The High Commissioner whilst addressing the gathering stated that he is grieved of the calamity befall them and he is happy to be a part of this occasion in helping them to start up their life. He also stated that the SLPFT&IA has done so many projects and activities and by doing so, they are making a great contribution towards further developing the social, trade and other relationships between our two friendly countries and enhancing friendship between the two brotherly peoples.
 
The High Commissioner thanked the SLPFT&IA and prayed that the victims of the floods can get back on their feet fast.

 

GIFTING OF CORNEAS TO THE PEOPLE OF PAKISTAN


 
 
Our Association gifted 35 Corneas towards restoring eyesight to 35 Pakistanis. The Corneas were implanted among the blind poor people of Lahore, Islamabad and KPK Province.  The hapless victims have seen light after years of darkness and they are the breadwinners of poor families.
 
 Even a few little children as young as seven years old benefited from this humanitarian gesture. 
 
The Corneas were gifted by the Association in March 2017 on the visit of the President, Vice President and Secretary General of the Association to Pakistan.
 The People of Pakistan requested for more Corneas and this was highlighted to our Members and our well wishers, both in Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
 
They came forward to help in this meritorious act and a further 25 Human Corneas were requested from the International Eye Bank by the Association and these Corneas will be dispatched to Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar by the fourth week of April 2017.
 
We are inundated with pleas for more Corneas from the People of Pakistan. We are making this request, from our members and non members in Sri Lanka, Pakistan and any other part of the world to come forward to join us in this meritorious deed as we have personally seen the plight of these hapless victims in the hospitals of Pakistan pre operative stage and their sense of gratitude, post operation.

Seminar on Dangers of Drugs Abuse


The Chief Guest for the event was Maj.Gen(R) Shakeel Hussain, High Commissioner for Pakistan. The Deputy High Commission Dr. Safraz Dr. Sarfraz Ahmad Sipra too graced this occasion.

The Seminar commenced with the playing of the National Anthems of Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Opening of Muhammad Ali Jinnah Computer Center

The Government of Pakistan has donated a fully equipped IT Lab comprising 15 computers and related equipment to Hameed Al Husseinie College in Colombo, today, through its High Commission in Sri Lanka.
The Project was organized by the Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association.
The new IT Lab will be used to impart diploma certificates in various IT fields to the students as well as old students of the college for increasing their skills and improving prospects for better employment opportunities.

The High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, Syed Shakeel Hussain inaugurated the Muhammad Ali Jinnah Computer Center along with President, Mr. Ifthikhar Aziz and Exco members of Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association, representatives of the old boys Association of the college as well as College administration.

Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Sports Gala 2013 held in a grand manner


 
The Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association, in collaboration with Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka and the Malay Cricket Club replica watches uk for sale organized the 2013 Sports Gala on Saturday, 21st September 2013, at the Malay Cricket Club grounds, Padang, Slave Island.
 
The Supreme Court Judge, Justice Salim Marsoof & Mrs. Marsoof were the Chief Guests while the High Commissioner of Pakistan HE Gen. Qasim Qureshi & Mrs. Qureshi were the Guests of Honour. The event was aimed at fostering friendship and replica breitling fellowship amongst the Sri Lankans and the Pakistani Community in Sri Lanka.
 
The Sports Gala featured number of activities including 3 friendly cricket matches for men, women and children teams. The event also included various interesting activities like Tug of War (Males) (Females) (Children), Breaking the Pot etc. 
 
A large number of Pakistanis based in Sri Lanka, along with all replica watches members of the Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association as well as Malay Cricket Club attended the event, together with their family members.

 

Muslim Commercial Bank donates Rs. 1 Million to the Flood Relief Fund of the Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Trade and Investment Association


Mr. Azfar Noumani,  Country General Manager  MCB  presented the cheque of Rs. 1 million to the Pakistan High Commissioner Maj. Gen. Syed Shakeel Hussain who in turn, handed over the said donation to  Mr. Ifthikhar Aziz, President of Sri Lanka – Pakistan Trade and Investment Association at a ceremony held at the High Commission of Pakistan on 30thMay 2016.

The  Deputy High Commissioner, Diplomats of the High Commission and the Executive Members of the Sri Lanka – Pakistan Trade and Investment Association  were also present on the occasion.

While speaking on the occasion, the High Commissioner expressed deep grief and sorrow to the Government of Sri Lanka over the loss of precious lives and the displacement of more than 400,000 people due to devastating floods.  

Mr. Azfar Noumani, Country General Manager MCB, stated that as  members of the SLPFT&IA,  MCB and the Pakistani community in Sri Lanka has always been standing with the people of Sri Lanka in the time of need.  

Mr. Ifthikhar Aziz, President Sri Lanka – Pakistan Friendship Trade and Investment Association stated that the Association pledged the Flood Relief at its Exco meeting held on 18th May 2016,  and has collected more than Rs. 4 Million. He thanked MCB, in particular,  and all the other Benefactors who have contributed so generously to the Fund.

The President of SLPFTIA, Mr. Ifthikhar Aziz together with Pakistan High Commissioner Gen. Shakeel Hussain and Deputy High Commissioner Dr. Sarfraz Sipra met with Minister of Development Strategies and Investment Promotion Mr. Malik Samarawickrema yesterday. The Minister was joined by Senior Economic Advisor to the Ministry Dr. Indrajith Coomaraswamy, Secretary to the Ministry, Ms. Chandanie Wijayawardena and Engr.  Mangala Yapa, Managing Director of the Agency for Development in the discussions. 
 
Various strategies were considered as to how the FTA between Sri Lanka and Pakistan could be further enhanced and mutually beneficial to both countries.

Popular Fourth Annual Master Quiz Competition of the Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Trade and Investment Association 
 
The Popular Fourth Annual Master Quiz Competition of the Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Trade and Investment Association (SLPFTIA) was held at the Kings Court of Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel on Sunday,  5th June 2016 followed by a sumptuous brunch. 
 
The Chief Guest on the occasion was the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka H.E Maj Gen (R) Syed Shakeel Hussain. The event was also attended by a large number of members of our  Association,  distinguished personalities, Diplomats from the High Commission and Pakistani families in Sri Lanka.  
 
The event started with the lightening of traditional oil lamp which was followed by the welcome address by Mr. Ifthikhar Aziz, SLPFTIA President followed by the speech from the Chief Guest High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka H.E Maj Gen (R) Syed Shakeel Hussain.
 
The event featured an exciting and interesting Master Quiz Competition in which participants contested as teams. The questions in the Master Quiz Competition were related to Sri Lanka, Pakistan, World Affairs, General Knowledge, Science & Technology and Sports among other topics.  
 
It was a fun filled evening with a friendly atmosphere families and friends teaming up together as competitors  to compete in a friendly manner to become the winner.    It was a great event of socializing with the friends and families of Pakistanis.
 
 
The winners of the Fourth Annual Master Quiz was the team from the MCB Bank and the second place to a family and 3rd place to a single contestant.
  
The proceeds from the event will be channeled towards many welfare projects of the Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Trade & Investment Association.
 
The Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Trade and Investment Association (SLPFTIA) is one of the oldest Friendship Association of Sri Lanka which was established more than 60 years ago.  The Association has been able to establish itself as a useful platform, dedicated to the promotion of bilateral relationship and friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This relationship is not restricted to any one area or field, but it encompasses every aspect of bilateral cooperation i.e. people to people contacts, culture, education, health, etc.
The SLPFTIA also promotes various social welfare and fund raising activities, student exchanges and encourages students to obtain admissions into the recognized learning institutions for higher studies in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
