Gift Beyond Compare”-

Appreciation for our Cornea Project by Prime Minister Hon. Nawaz Sheriff

Our association gifted 10 Human Corneas to Prime Minister Hon. Nawaz Sheriff for the people of Pakistan in the presence of our Prime Minister Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, when he visited Sri Lanka in 2016.

Prime Minister Sheriff accepted it with much appreciation and said it was  a true humanitarian gesture , which could not be valued in any currency.

A further twenty-five were donated when our President Ifthikar Aziz, Vice President Idris Admani and Secretary General Fazal Lafir visited Pakistan in March this year.

Ten corneas were were handed oveer to PM Nawaz Sheriff for cornea transplants at Shsheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Teaching Hospital (PIMS) in Islamabad, another ten to Chief Minister Shabbaz Sharif for transplants at King Edward Medical College in Punjab and five corneas to the Governor of KP Province to be used at the Khyber Teaching Hospital in Peshawar and another twenty five were shipped.

We have sent forty more corneas, which have made it a total of hundred corneas, within the past sixteen months. This would have not been possible if it was not for the kind generosity of some of our Executive Committee Members, general members and benefactors for whom we are extremely grateful.

We have been requested to send more corneas, at least twenty five each month and to carry on with the project, we need the support of both, Sri Lankans and Pakistanis to help us.

We look forward to more generous donations for those wishing to join us in this meritorious and humanitarian gesture.
